Dr. Aileen Teague is an Assistant Professor in the Department of International Affairs at Texas A&M University. She holds fellowships at the Quincy Institute for Responsible Statecraft and the Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics, and Public Policy. Her research focuses on U.S.-Mexico relations, drug policy, and transnational political history. She earned a Ph.D. in History from Vanderbilt University (2018), following service in the U.S. Marine Corps (2006–2014) and global upbringing in military families.

Her research investigates the origins of the U.S.-Mexico drug war, emphasizing transnational archival analysis. Key works include her forthcoming Oxford University Press book Policing on Drugs, examining bilateral drug enforcement’s impact on Mexican politics and U.S. domestic policy. She teaches U.S. history and Latin American relations, coordinating a speaker series on Latin American issues.
Her articles analyze drug policy’s sociopolitical consequences, highlighting mutual securitization between nations and the militarization of drug enforcement. Recent work addresses demilitarizing U.S.-Mexico security relations.
