Aifang Ma is a Lecturer and Boya Postdoctoral Scholar at the School of Journalism and Communication, Peking University, and an Associate Researcher at the Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics (CEE), Sciences Po, Paris. Her work bridges political science, media policy, and digital governance, with a focus on regulation in China, the EU, and the US.

Her research centers on internet regulation, artificial intelligence governance, and digital policy. Her work employs theoretical frameworks such as Polanyi’s double movement and comparative institutional analysis.
Her recent publications reflect a strong trend toward AI governance, digital sovereignty, and comparative regulatory models, especially in the context of China’s evolving digital economy. She also examines content compliance in private internet firms and the international coordination of AI regulation.

She has published in journals such as Public Administration, Modern Publishing, and Twenty-First Century, and authored policy reports for the Fondation pour l’innovation politique.
She is affiliated with the Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics (CEE) at Sciences Po and collaborates internationally, including through the CyberBRICS Fellowship. Her research is deeply interdisciplinary, linking political science, media studies, and technology policy.
