Dr. Aidín McKinney is a Lecturer in the School of Nursing and Midwifery at Queen's University Belfast. She leads Critical Care Nursing short courses and focuses on patient and family involvement in acute care escalation. Her research emphasizes early recognition of deterioration, patient safety, and qualitative methodologies. She has contributed to teaching and co-designing interventions in acute and critical care nursing.
Research Interests: Acute care nursing, patient safety, qualitative research, co-design processes, implementation science, and pandemic impacts on healthcare workers.
Key Achievements: Published widely on critical care nursing, including a book on nursing acutely ill adults (translated into Arabic). Received the 'Best Oral Presentation' award (2024) for work on patient/family escalation systems.
Advising & Grants: Supervising PhD students in Saudi Arabian healthcare contexts. Collaborated on projects funded by Queen's University and external partners.
