Ahmir Ahmad

Dr Ahmir Ahmad is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the Department of Surgery & Cancer, Imperial College London, Faculty of Medicine, and a Consultant Gastroenterologist & Endoscopist at St Mark's National Bowel Hospital since 2023. His work integrates clinical practice and research in gastrointestinal endoscopy, focusing on advancing colonoscopy techniques and AI-assisted diagnostics.

• Postgraduate: PhD in Clinical Medicine Research, Imperial College London, 2023
• Certifications: MRCP (2013), Specialty Certificate in Gastroenterology (2016)

His research explores efficiency in colonoscopy, optical diagnosis strategies, and resect-and-discard techniques. He led the DISCARD3 study, whose findings are being adopted nationally for optical diagnosis in bowel cancer screening. He also contributes to endoscopy education and NHS England's Bowel Cancer Screening Programme.

Dr Ahmad co-authored the 8th edition of Cotton & Williams' Practical Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and is actively involved in the British Society of Gastroenterology Clinical Research Group. He provides private consultations at multiple hospitals in London and Brentwood.
