Afif EL-Khuffash

Prof. Afif EL-Khuffash is a Clinical Professor of Paediatrics at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and a Consultant Neonatologist at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin. His primary clinical and research focus is neonatal cardiovascular physiology, particularly assessing heart function in preterm and term neonates. He leads neonatal echocardiography and heart function assessment programs, and has pioneered educational tools like the first neonatal echo training website and mobile app. He chairs the European guidelines committee for neonatal echocardiography training.

He holds degrees from Trinity College Dublin (MB, BCh, BAO) and University College Dublin (MD), with advanced training in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the University of Toronto. He has authored over 269 peer-reviewed publications and serves as Associate Editor for Pediatric Research. His research covers PDA management, neonatal haemodynamics, and telemedicine innovations in neonatal care.
