Adrián Kvokačka is an Associate Professor at the Institute of Aesthetics and Art Culture within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Prešov. He has been affiliated with the institute since 2000, initially as a Research Assistant, and obtained his PhD in History of Philosophy in 2010. His primary academic focus encompasses the history and theory of aesthetics, with specialized expertise in Kantian aesthetics, applied aesthetics, non-thematic aesthetics, and French aesthetic thinking.
Kvokačka teaches diverse courses across Bachelor’s and Master’s programs, including History of Aesthetics, Introduction to Aesthetics, Applied Aesthetics, Non-artistic Aesthetics, Preparatory Seminar of Aesthetics, Selected Chapters of History of Aesthetics, Postmodern Aesthetics, and Aesthetics of Nature and Environment. His research explores interdisciplinary connections between aesthetics, philosophy, and cultural theory, particularly examining contemporary reinterpretations of Kantian concepts and everyday aesthetics.
His publications demonstrate a consistent focus on Kantian philosophy, the aesthetics of the sublime, everyday experiences, and urban environments. Recent works engage with postmodern interpretations, environmental aesthetics, and historical analyses of beauty, reflecting sustained interdisciplinary inquiry.
Kvokačka actively contributes to academic leadership as President of the Society for Aesthetics in Slovakia and holds memberships in international organizations including the International Association for Aesthetics (Executive Committee), British Society of Aesthetics, European Society for Aesthetics, and others. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of ESPES and participates in editorial boards for Terra Aestheticae, Yearbook of Moving Image Studies, and Evental Aesthetics. He is involved in grant projects such as KEGA-016PU-4/2018 (Compendium Aestheticae textbook) and VEGA 1/0051/19 (Music and dramatic art in aesthetic theory).
