Adrienne Schwarte is a Professor of Design and Coordinator of the Sustainability Studies Minor at Maryville College's Division of Fine Arts. With over 18 years of professional experience in graphic design, photography, and communications, she has worked with notable organizations including the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation, and NHL Dallas Stars Hockey Team.
- B.A. in Communication and Art from Buena Vista University
- M.F.A. in Multimedia Design from University of Minnesota
- Professional Certificate in Campus Sustainability Leadership from University of Vermont
Her creative work explores visual polarization, geotourism, and sustainability principles through both client-based design and traditional/digital photography. She teaches courses ranging from 2D Design to Digital Photography and leads travel-study programs in Scandinavia and Costa Rica.
- Presented at AIGA Design Educator’s Conference, AASHE, SECAC, and NCSE
- Created the "Water: One Size Fits All!" public art installation in Knoxville
- Active in pro-social design for non-profits including In Defense of Animals-Africa and Foothills Land Conservancy
