Adrienne SALA is a Researcher at the French Institute for Research on Japan (IFRJ-MFJ) and a visiting researcher at the University of Tokyo's Institute of Social Sciences since September 2019. Her work focuses on sociopolitical issues, legal mobilization, public policy, lawmaking processes, and the evolution of Japan's economy and society. She coordinates the project 'The Judicialization of Social and Environmental Issues in France and Japan' and previously contributed to the 'Transformations of Work in Japan' initiative. She holds a doctoral degree from the École des hautes études en sciences sociales (EHESS).
Research Projects:
- "Judiciarization" (since 2021): Analyzes the role of courts in addressing social and environmental challenges.
- "Transformation du Travail": Explored labor dynamics in Japan through a 2018-2019 collaborative project.
Key Research Themes: Adrienne examines legal frameworks' adaptability to emerging societal issues, such as occupational health crises (e.g., karôshi), pandemic governance, and economic policy responses to challenges like household debt. Her work bridges sociology, law, and political economy to understand institutional change in Japan.
Collaborations: She collaborates with the France-Japan Foundation (FFJ), contributing to Axis 1: 'Diversity of Capitalisms and Institutional Changes.' Her interdisciplinary approach integrates academic partnerships across French and Japanese institutions.
