Adrienne Boulton is a Lecturer in Educational Studies at Kwantlen Polytechnic University and a researcher/advisor in the Faculty of Education at the University of British Columbia. She holds a PhD in Curriculum (2015) and an MA in Curriculum and Pedagogy (2009) from UBC, along with a BEd from the University of Saskatchewan (1994).
- Research Interests: Arts-based educational research, pre-service teacher education, place-based learning, and a/r/tography.
- Current Projects: Principal Investigator for Walking Home: International and Domestic Students’ Film Making As Mapping Place.
- Editorial Role: Senior Editor of the Canadian Review of Art Education.
Her scholarly work focuses on integrating creative practices with educational theory, emphasizing how artistic inquiry and visual metaphor can reshape teacher training. She explores institutional barriers to creativity and uses film/photography as research tools. Her publications span topics like intercultural exchange, intuitive methodologies, and narrative forms in arts education. She teaches courses on higher education foundations, social justice in education, and curriculum development.
