Christopher Boulton is a Professor and Director of the Master of Arts in Social and Emerging Media (MASEM) program at the University of Tampa. He has been actively engaged in critical/creative research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, and community service since joining the university in 2012.

His research focuses on qualitative analysis of media at textual, audience, and industry levels, examining intersections of identity and inequality. His work has been published in journals such as Howard Journal of Communications and International Journal of Communication, while his documentary films have screened at over 100 festivals globally.
Boulton’s creative projects have earned significant recognition, including six films with nine awards across international festivals. Notable honors include Best Video Essay at Orlando Film Festival and Best Immersive at CineGlobe Film Festival in Geneva, Switzerland.
He has led travel courses abroad to Ecuador, Morocco, Thailand, and Mexico, co-produced documentaries, and contributed to community-based media projects. Additional service roles include chairing his department, coordinating internship programs, and curating public lecture series.
