Adrien Bouguen is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business. His research focuses on the economics of education, development economics, and agricultural economics, with a particular interest in how human capital accumulates over lifetimes and the policies that can enhance this process. He conducts field experiments in both low-income countries (Cambodia, Burkina Faso, Ethiopia) and France, collaborating with global institutions like IPA, J-PAL, the World Bank, and CEGA. Bouguen holds a PhD from the Paris School of Economics.
His research explores topics such as teacher training efficacy, preschool provision impacts, agricultural technology adoption, and multidimensional poverty reduction programs. He emphasizes evidence-based policy design through randomized controlled trials and large-scale social experiments. At Santa Clara, he teaches courses on the Economics of Education and Data Analysis & Econometrics.
