Michael Kevane is a Professor of Economics at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business. His research focuses on African economic development, gender dynamics in developing countries, and the impact of libraries on rural communities in Africa. He has authored books such as Women and Development in Africa: How Gender Works and co-edited works on Sudan and Burkina Faso's political economies. Kevane teaches courses on African Development, Econometrics, and the Economics of Gender. He has received the 2018 Hackworth Grant and is the founder of Friends of African Village Libraries (FAVL), a nonprofit promoting rural libraries in Burkina Faso and Ghana. His work bridges academia and community development, emphasizing policy-relevant research.
