معرفی
Dr. Adriana Galván is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she leads the Galván Laboratory for Developmental Neuroscience. She is also a member of the Brain Research Institute and has been recognized as a Fellow by the Association for Psychological Science (2018) and a recipient of the prestigious Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (2019).
Research Focus
Dr. Galván's research investigates how neurobiological development in children, adolescents, and adults shapes behavioral changes related to decision-making, risk-taking, and emotion regulation. Using behavioral and neuroimaging techniques, her work emphasizes the interplay between brain circuits (e.g., prefrontal cortex, reward system) and cognitive processes during adolescence, a critical period for mental health and behavioral vulnerabilities.
Scientific Contributions
- Investigated neural plasticity in development and learning (2010, Human Brain Mapping)
- Defined developmental trajectories of the reward system (2010, Frontiers in Neuroscience)
- Linked nucleus accumbens sensitivity to reward expectation violations (2007, Neuroimage)
- Explored physical home environment's impact on prefrontal cortical thickness (2019, Developmental Science [in press])
Honors & Grants
- Troland Award (National Academy of Sciences, 2019)
- Fulbright Award (2018)
- R01 grant from NIMH (2017): Trajectories of Brain Maturation in At-Risk Youth
