Adrian Armstrong

Professor Adrian Armstrong is the Centenary Professor of French at Queen Mary University of London's School of Languages, Linguistics and Film. He specializes in late medieval French and Dutch literature, book history, and translation studies, with a focus on interactions between French and Dutch cultures in the Low Countries. His research spans from the 15th to the 19th century, including modern Flemish literature. Armstrong has held leadership roles such as Head of the School of Languages, Linguistics and Film, and Dean for Research in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. He has supervised PhD students in areas like Renaissance art history, literary translation, and book history. His funded projects include studies on Burgundian literature and medieval translation practices. Armstrong is a Senior HEA Fellow and contributes to academic governance, editorial boards, and public engagement initiatives like radio broadcasts and exhibitions.
