Dr. Rozanne Versendaal is an Assistant Professor at Utrecht University’s Department of Languages, Literature and Communication, specializing in French literature and culture of the late medieval and early modern periods (15th–17th centuries). Her research focuses on parody as a tool for social cohesion, multilingual books as cultural brokers, and book history. She completed her PhD in 2022 with the thesis 'Le mandement joyeux et la culture joyeuse en France et dans les anciens Pays-Bas (15th-17th centuries).'

She leads the project 'Empowering Individuals, Opening Cities: Multilingual Books as Cultural Brokers in the Sixteenth Century' and collaborates with institutions like ENSSIB (Lyon) and the University of Lausanne.
Scientific awards include prestigious fellowships at the Royal Netherlands Institute in Rome (2023), ENSSIB (2023–2024), and the Tiele Fellow program (2024). She co-supervises PhD candidate Pauline Bobichon and teaches courses in French Language and Culture, Renaissance Studies, and translation programs.
Versendaal actively participates in academic events, including organizing the 2024 workshop 'The Reuse of Books and Book Materials in Medieval and Early Modern Societies.' She also contributes to public engagement, such as the 'Learning Languages Without Grammar Exercises' education research project and the 'Pirates and Princesses' valorization initiative.
