Adlansyah Abd Rahman

Adlansyah Abd Rahman is an Associate Professor at the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences, Heriot-Watt University. His research focuses on sustainable energy systems, particularly biomass utilization and renewable energy integration in Malaysia. He specializes in biomass cofiring, waste-to-energy technologies, and policy frameworks for decarbonization. His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to affordable and clean energy (SDG7) and climate action (SDG13).

Key research areas include optimizing biomass energy systems, analyzing agricultural waste valorization (e.g., palm oil residues), and addressing technical barriers in renewable energy adoption. He has extensively studied pyrolysis kinetics of plastic-waste blends and explored synergies between solar thermal energy and conventional power plants.

His publications highlight trends in decarbonizing Malaysia’s power sector through biomass integration, improving pellet durability for biomass transport, and overcoming policy communication gaps in renewable energy targets. Recent work emphasizes green electricity production for electric vehicles and sustainable thermal power plant designs.

Adlansyah has collaborated on projects like the TNBiT–TNB Biogas Calculator Tool and conducted field studies at palm oil mills in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. His research bridges technical innovation with policy implementation to advance Malaysia’s renewable energy goals.
