Zia Ud Din

Zia Ud Din is an Assistant Professor at the School of Engineering & Physical Sciences, Heriot-Watt University. His research focuses on sustainable energy technologies, including Waste-to-Energy systems, biomass gasification, producer gas cleaning, and Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC). He explores applications in renewable energy systems, thermal desalination, and industrial process optimization.

Key research interests include:

• Biomass gasification and tar reduction mechanisms in producer gas
• Integration of renewable energy systems (wind, solar, biogas) for power generation in Pakistan
• Thermal-hydraulic optimization of heat exchangers for desalination
• Phase-change material (PCM) storage for building energy efficiency

His work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy) and 13 (Climate Action). Collaborations include studies on diesel engine emissions reduction and wind farm feasibility in Pakistan. He accepts PhD students in Waste-to-Energy technology and biomass utilization.
