Adeno Addis is the W.R. Irby Chair and William Ray Forrester Professor of Public and Constitutional Law at Tulane University School of Law. His academic affiliations include the Stone Center for Latin American Studies as an affiliated faculty member. He holds a J.S.D. (1987) and LL.M. (1983) from Yale Law School, along with a B.A./LL.B. (First Class Honors) from Macquarie University (Australia, 1980).
Professor Addis' research focuses on comparative constitutional law, international law, and jurisprudence. He has conducted extensive work on issues of national identity, citizenship frameworks, and constitutional design in multi-ethnic states. His recent articles examine topics such as dignity in legal contexts, Ethiopian constitutional crises, and narratives of peoplehood through constitutional preambles.
He has held visiting professorships at institutions including Passau University (Germany), City University of Hong Kong, Chuo University (Japan), and the University of Melbourne (Australia). His geographic expertise spans Latin America, Ethiopia, and other regions.
