Dr. Addy de Jongh serves as a PhD Researcher at the Groningen Institute for Evolutionary Life Sciences (GELIFES) within the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Groningen. He concurrently holds the leadership position of Chair at Stichting Otterstation Nederland, a foundation dedicated to otter conservation and rehabilitation.
His research spans Ecology, Functional Morphology, Ethology, and Environmental assessments, focusing on animal behavior mechanisms, organism-environment interactions, and ecological impact evaluations. This interdisciplinary work integrates field observations with morphological analysis to address conservation challenges, particularly in aquatic ecosystems where otters serve as key indicator species. His expertise bridges theoretical evolutionary biology with practical environmental management applications.
Through Stichting Otterstation Nederland, Dr. de Jongh directly applies academic research to wildlife rehabilitation initiatives, developing evidence-based protocols for otter conservation while contributing to broader environmental assessment frameworks. His dual roles exemplify the translation of academic research into tangible conservation outcomes.
