Jennifer Chaplin

Jennifer Chaplin serves as a Senior Lecturer in the School of Environmental and Conservation Sciences at Murdoch University, where her work bridges ecological research and conservation science through molecular methodologies.

Her research program focuses on critical environmental challenges: investigating the taxonomy, ecology, and evolutionary history of salt lake invertebrates; analyzing population genetics and connectivity patterns in fish species; combating seafood mislabelling through DNA verification; and assessing dietary habits of little penguins via genetic biomarkers. These interconnected projects advance marine conservation, wildlife management, and food authenticity frameworks while addressing anthropogenic impacts on aquatic ecosystems.
