Professor Adam White is a Professor of Criminology and Director of Research at the University of Sheffield's School of Law. He joined the institution in 2016 after serving as Lecturer and Senior Lecturer in Public Policy at the University of York (2010-2015). His multidisciplinary research spans criminology, politics, and socio-legal studies, with particular focus on policing, private security, terrorism, and counterterrorism dynamics.

As Director of Research, he leads major projects including the ESRC-funded Centre for Vulnerability and Policing Futures (£8.23m, 2022-2027) and previously co-directed the N8 Policing Research Partnership (£6.64m, 2015-2020). He teaches undergraduate/postgraduate modules on Criminology and War, Drugs and Crime Control, and Global Terrorism.
He serves on editorial boards for the British Journal of Criminology and Security Journal, and actively contributes to the British Society of Criminology Policing Network.
