Adam Ogilvie-Smith

Adam Ogilvie-Smith is a Visiting Professor at the Aberdeen Business School (Robert Gordon University) since 2008. He holds extensive experience in national security, resilience, counter-terrorism, and aviation security, with a focus on leveraging science and technology. Previously, he served 13 years in the UK Civil Service at GCHQ and the Cabinet Office, followed by roles at KPMG, Racal/Thales, and CGI, where he provides security and business consultancy in space, defence, and cyber security. He was seconded to the Home Office and UK Trade & Investment to develop UK aviation security capabilities globally.

Active in European security policy, Adam contributed to the European Security Research & Innovation Forum and the EU’s FP7 Security Advisory Group. A frequent international speaker on security topics, he has presented on four continents. He also served 18 years as a special constable (volunteer police officer), contributing to his practical understanding of public safety challenges.
