Dr. David Lowe is a Senior Research Fellow at Leeds Beckett University's Leeds Law School, specializing in terrorism, policing, and criminal law. His career transitioned from a police officer (retired 2007) to academia, focusing on counter-terrorism, hate crime, and Prevent strategy. His research emphasizes extremist ideologies, vulnerable populations (e.g., SEND children), and international collaboration on security policies. He advises governments, including the Northern Ireland Assembly on hate crime legislation, and contributes to UNESCO's Violent Extremism initiatives.
