معرفی
Professor Adam Benham is a faculty member in the Department of Biosciences at Durham University, serving as Director of Postgraduate Studies. He holds a first-class honours degree in Biochemistry from the University of Oxford and a PhD in transplantation immunology from University College London. His postdoctoral research included EU-funded studies at the Netherlands Cancer Institute and Utrecht University, focusing on antigen presentation and protein quality control.
His research investigates ER quality control mechanisms, particularly in immune molecules (MHC) and sperm protein folding. Notable discoveries include PDILT’s role in male fertility and collaborations on skin biology with Procter & Gamble. He teaches undergraduate modules on immunology and disease biology, and sits on editorial boards for Antioxidants and Redox Signaling and Biology Direct.
His work spans protein folding, oxidative stress, and translational medicine, supported by funding from BBSRC, MRC, Wellcome Trust, and international bodies. His team collaborates globally (e.g., Osaka University, UNIFESP-EPM) and employs cutting-edge proteomics and microscopy techniques.
