Adam Banks is a Professor at the Graduate School of Education at Stanford University, with a courtesy appointment in the African and African American Studies Program. A committed educator and scholar, his work bridges writing, rhetoric, and technology, focusing on African American rhetoric, digital cultures, and community literacy. Previously, he held faculty roles at the University of Kentucky, Syracuse University, and served as a visiting professor at the University of Kansas and Bread Loaf School of English.
- Research Interests: African American rhetoric, digital humanities, community literacy, and critical digital literacies.
- Current Projects: Developing the book Technologizing Funk/Funkin Technology and teaching courses like Funkentelechy: Technologies, Social Justice and Black Vernacular Cultures.
Scientific Awards:
- Rhetorician of the Year, Young Rhetoricians Conference (2014)
Advising and Teaching: Has served as a Doctoral Dissertation Reader and Orals Chair for students such as T. Jones and Michael Mulshine, and teaches courses on Black digital cultures, DJ culture, and cultural rhetorics.
