Abrar Chaudhury is a Senior Research Fellow at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford, and a Senior Researcher at the Environmental Change Institute (ECI). He holds a prestigious three-year British Academy Fellowship, investigating climate finance and technology impacts in emerging economies like Pakistan. His work bridges environmental management, corporate strategy, and policy implementation. He is also a Fellow of Green Templeton College and a Fellow Chartered Accountant (FCA).
Dr. Chaudhury’s research focuses on global climate finance mechanisms, climate adaptation policies, and corporate purpose in turbulent economies. His interdisciplinary approach combines social network analysis, participatory methods, and policy analysis. Key projects include collaborations with EY Global on corporate transformation, World Bank-funded studies on Climate Smart Agriculture in Pakistan, and CGIAR’s CCAFS program on food system resilience.
His teaching spans Oxford’s MBA, EMBA, and Executive Education programs, where he covers global challenges, sustainability governance, and futures thinking. He advises the Oxford 1+1 MBA Programme and leads workshops on governance and environment in emerging economies.
Chaudhury’s work emphasizes translating research into practice, partnering with governments, NGOs, and the private sector. His articles highlight systemic challenges in climate finance, adaptive agriculture, and the role of technology in climate action. He has been recognized with the Academy of Management’s Best Dissertation Award (2017) for his doctoral research on climate adaptation policy in Ghana, Nepal, and Pakistan.
Before academia, he was a partner in a leading Pakistani accounting firm, leveraging this experience to integrate financial and management accounting insights into climate policy analysis.
