Abraham E Jaffe

Abraham E Jaffe, MD is an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and a trauma and acute care surgeon at Boston Medical Center. His work focuses on trauma care, health equity, social determinants of health in surgery, and global surgery initiatives.

• Education: MD from University of Massachusetts Medical School, BA from Oberlin College

Dr. Jaffe's research explores how social determinants impact surgical outcomes and equity in healthcare delivery. He is actively involved in projects addressing healthcare disparities among underserved populations both locally and globally.

His recent publication in Surg Infect (Larchmt) (2024) examines urgent versus elective cholecystectomy needs in urban safety-net hospitals. Dr. Jaffe also leads the education branch of the Socially Responsible Surgery group at BU/BMC.
