Eileen M. Costello, MD is a Clinical Professor at Boston University’s Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine and Chief of Ambulatory Pediatrics at Boston Medical Center (BMC). She holds affiliations with BMC, Harvard College (AB in Psychology/Social Relations), and Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (MD).
Her career focuses on developmental and behavioral pediatrics, neurodevelopmental disorders (including autism), and addressing healthcare disparities in underserved populations. She co-authored the influential book *Quirky Kids: Understanding and Helping Your Child Who Doesn’t Fit In* (2003, updated 2021), emphasizing innovative approaches for children with developmental challenges.
Costello leads BMC’s SOFAR program, supporting families affected by the opioid crisis, and pioneered mobile pediatric care during the pandemic. Her research integrates community outreach, addiction treatment adaptation, and child health equity.
