Professor Abigail Locke is Professor of Social and Health Psychology and Head of School at Keele University's School of Psychology. With a PhD from Loughborough University, she previously held positions at University of Bradford and serves as Editor-in-Chief of Health Psychology Open. Her research examines gender identities, parenting experiences, infant feeding decisions, and social media's role in gender discourse.
Research interests include critical analysis of motherhood/fatherhood constructions, infant feeding advice in policy contexts, and gendered 'hate talk' on social media. She employs qualitative methodologies like thematic analysis and critical discursive psychology.
