Joanna Jamel

Dr. Joanna Jamel is a Senior Lecturer in Criminology at Kingston University, London. Her academic background includes a PhD in Psychology from the University of Leicester and extensive research on marginalized communities, particularly male rape survivors and transgender individuals. She has held roles at the University of Leicester’s Forensic Psychology department and the Centre for Criminal Justice at Liverpool John Moores University. Her research focuses on criminal justice policy, hate crime against transgender people, and the impact of prison/community resources on recidivism. She has published widely on topics such as transphobic hate crime, male sex worker safety, and media representation of sexual violence.
