Dr. Abigail Gillman serves as Associate Professor of Hebrew, German and Comparative Literature at Boston University and currently acts as Director of the Elie Wiesel Center for Jewish Studies. She holds a Ph.D. in Germanic Languages and Literature from Harvard University and earned her B.A. in Literature from Yale University.
Professor Gillman's research focuses on the intersection of Jewish intellectual history and literary studies, particularly examining German Jewish contributions to biblical translation and modernist literature. Her work explores how Jewish thinkers navigated cultural identity through literary expression and religious texts during pivotal historical periods including the Enlightenment and early 20th century Vienna.
