Gilad Sharvit is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies at Towson University. His research focuses on modern Jewish thought, German-Jewish literature and culture, German and continental philosophy, psychoanalysis, and critical theory. He currently investigates the role of heresy in German Jewish modernity.
Sharvit has authored and co-edited several scholarly volumes including Therapeutics and Salvation: Freud and Schelling on Freedom (2021), Freud and Monotheism (2018), and Canonization and Alterity (2020). These works explore intersections between psychoanalytic theory, religious history, and continental philosophy.
His publications reflect a thematic focus on: Freudian theory applied to theological questions, critical engagements with Schelling's philosophy, and interdisciplinary approaches to Jewish intellectual history. The 2021 monograph uniquely bridges psychoanalytic concepts with philosophical inquiries about freedom, while the 2020 co-edited volume examines hermeneutical tensions in Jewish textual traditions.
As a Senior Fellow, Sharvit maintains additional academic affiliations beyond his primary position at Towson University.
