Abi Ter Kuile is an affiliated researcher at King’s College London, based in the Social, Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry Centre within the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience. Her work focuses on the genetics and biological mechanisms of common mental disorders, particularly anxiety and depression, leveraging data from the Genetic Links to Anxiety and Depression (GLAD) Study. She holds a PhD in Social Genetic and Developmental Psychiatry from King’s College London (2022), an MSc in Genes, Environment and Development (Distinction, 2019), and a BSc in Biomedical Science (First Class with Honours, 2018).
Her research interests include genomic approaches to mental health, integrating genetic and biological data to understand disorder subtypes and their biological underpinnings. Key projects include the GLAD Study and collaborations on eating disorders genetics.
Publications span topics like genetic overlap between mental disorders and Alzheimer’s, childhood maltreatment heritability, and diagnostic measure comparisons. She actively contributes to interdisciplinary collaborations and open-access research initiatives.
