Abhijit Majumder is a Professor of Physics and Astronomy at Wayne State University (2021–present), previously serving as an Associate Professor (2011–2021). He holds a Ph.D. from McGill University (2002), M.Sc. and B.Sc. from IIT Kharagpur (1995–1997). His research focuses on the theory of Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD), nuclear collisions, and jet quenching in the Quark-Gluon Plasma, with interdisciplinary work in computational physics and statistics through the JETSCAPE collaboration.
Key roles include Spokesperson of the JETSCAPE collaboration and grant leadership from NSF and DOE. He has authored over 150 publications, including studies on jet energy loss, Bayesian inference in jet quenching, and hybrid hadronization models.
Recent courses include Conceptual Physics and Quantum Field Theory. Awards include NSF SI2 and CSSI programs (2016–2024), and DOE Nuclear Theory grants. His work bridges high-energy physics with advanced computational frameworks to probe extreme quantum matter.
