معرفی
Abdallah Hayar, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Neuroscience at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) College of Medicine. His research focuses on synaptic transmission and neural circuit dynamics in the olfactory bulb, exploring how synchronized bursting activity contributes to sensory encoding and decoding in both normal and pathological states.
His work bridges cellular and systems neuroscience, with an emphasis on understanding the role of glomerular circuitry in olfactory coding. He has also investigated links between olfactory dysfunction and neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, aiming to uncover molecular mechanisms underlying these conditions.
Recent publications highlight his studies on membrane potential oscillations, synaptic plasticity, and theta-frequency bursting in olfactory bulb neurons. His laboratory utilizes advanced techniques like simultaneous patch-clamp recordings to analyze neuronal interactions within glomeruli.
