Alan J. Tackett

Alan J. Tackett is a Distinguished Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, holding the Scharlau Family Endowed Chair for Cancer Research. As Deputy Director of the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute, he leads translational research on immunotherapy resistance mechanisms in metastatic melanoma. Tackett earned his PhD from UAMS.

His laboratory investigates:

• Molecular predictors of immunotherapy response in melanoma
• Chromatin modifications in cancer progression
• Quantitative proteomic profiling of tumors
• Novel therapeutic targets for treatment-resistant cancers

Research employs CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing and mass spectrometry to study epigenetic regulation, biomarker discovery, and cancer pathway activation. Tackett collaborates with oncologists, surgeons, and pathologists to bridge laboratory findings with clinical applications.
