Sayem Miah

Sayem Miah is an Assistant Professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), affiliated with the Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute. He holds a B.Sc. from Rajshahi University (Bangladesh), M.Sc. from Linkoping University (Sweden), and Ph.D. from the University of Saskatchewan (Canada). His research focuses on cancer signaling networks, particularly the molecular mechanisms underlying tumorigenesis and metastasis in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), utilizing proteomic, biochemical, and genomic approaches.

Research in the Miah lab investigates how cells decode complex signals in health and disease states, with a focus on TGFβ/SMAD signaling paradox in metastasis. Key projects include defining BRK-regulated SMAD4 networks, mapping chromatin remodeling in TNBC, and identifying multi-target therapeutics against oncogenic non-receptor tyrosine kinases.

The lab's recent publications (2010-2024) span topics including Sin3/HDAC complex dynamics, BRK's role in proteasomal degradation, EMT regulation via FRK, epigenetic reprogramming in metastasis, and methodological advances in proteomic analysis. These works emphasize signal transduction, chromatin biology, and precision oncology applications.
