Abbye Frederick

Dr. Abbye Frederick is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center, specializing in infectious diseases, HIV treatment/prevention, and sexually transmitted infections. She is affiliated with the Division of Infectious Diseases & Geographic Medicine and holds an HIV specialist credential (AAHIVS). Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she joined UT Southwestern in 2024.

Education: Bachelor’s in Biological Sciences (summa cum laude, University of South Carolina), M.D. (magna cum laude, USC School of Medicine), internal medicine residency at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, and infectious diseases fellowship at UT Southwestern.

Research interests focus on HIV, health disparities, and infectious disease epidemiology. She actively presents and publishes in these areas. Professional memberships include the Infectious Diseases Society of America, AAHIVM, and the American College of Physicians.
