Aaron Mansfield is an Assistant Professor at the Girard School of Business, Merrimack College, specializing in the psychology of sports fandom and its impact on health and well-being. He holds a Ph.D. in Management from UMass Amherst, an M.S. in Sport Management, and a B.A. in English & Journalism from the University of Buffalo.

His research focuses on how sports fandom influences health behaviors, consumer choices, and identity dynamics. Key themes include fan dietary patterns linked to team performance, work-life balance in athletics employees, and identity conflicts among health-conscious fans. Recent work explores pandemic impacts on fandom and the emotional support networks within fan communities.
Notable awards include the 2023-2024 Faculty Member of the Year (Merrimack College) and the 2023 Outstanding Researcher Award (Girard School of Business). His research has been supported by grants including the 2022 START Package.
Teaching focuses on sport management and marketing, integrating real-world industry experience from roles as an ESPN editor, reporter for The Buffalo News, and former basketball coach at Amherst College.
