Ceyda Mumcu is a Professor and Chair of the Sport, Tourism, and Hospitality Management Department at the Pompea College of Business, University of New Haven. She is also Coordinator of the M.S. Sport Management program and co-editor of the first textbook on analytics in sport management.

Dr. Mumcu specializes in fan behavior, sport marketing, women’s sports marketing, media representation of female athletes, and marketing analytics. Her groundbreaking research on the WNBA’s 2014 Pride campaign explored inclusive marketing strategies for LGBTQ+ communities and their impact on brand perception. She has pioneered the integration of machine learning and data analytics in sport management education, including a case study on WNBA player positions using predictive modeling.
Her recent work focuses on corporate social advocacy in women’s sports, gender equality, and safety protocols in basketball (e.g., buffer zones). She collaborates with organizations like the Arthur W. Page Center and Betting Ladies on studies about gender differences in sports betting behavior. Her refereed publications span journals such as Sport Marketing Quarterly, Computers in Human Behavior, and International Journal of Sport Management.
