Esin Cakan is a Professor of Economics at the University of New Haven, affiliated with the Pompea College of Business and the Economics and Business Analytics Department. She holds a Ph.D. in Financial Economics from CUNY (2008), an M.S. in Economics (1998), and a B.S. in Statistics (1995) from Middle East Technical University.

- Academic Service: Editorial Board Member of the American Journal of Economics and Business Administration, referee for 15+ journals
Her research focuses on herding behavior in financial markets, exchange rate dynamics, macroeconomic news impact on asset prices, and financial development in emerging economies. She has published in journals like Applied Economics, Economic Modelling, and Review of Behavioral Finance, with cross-disciplinary work in nuclear medicine.
She has received multiple Summer Research Grants (2009-2013) from the University of New Haven and served as a coordinator for conference sessions at the Eastern Economic Association and Midwest Economic Association meetings. Her teaching spans Financial Management, Econometrics, and International Economics at undergraduate and graduate levels.
