Senior Lecturer
Dr. Lee Pollard is a Senior Lecturer and Associate Head in the Department of Social Work and Social Care and Community Studies at Sheffield Hallam University, affiliated with the Health Research Institute. He began his academic career in 1997 after qualifying as a social worker and has focused on child protection and fatal child abuse research. His research interests center on child protection , phenomenology , and social work practice . His doctoral thesis, Social Worker Experience of Fatal Child Abuse , has led to ongoing projects and conference presentations, including at ISPCAN International Congress. He has published on topics such as childhood obesity as a child protection concern. He supervises postgraduate research students, including Johnson (2015), and teaches on the BA Social Work BA Social Work Apprenticeship MA Social Work programs. His work has been presented at conferences like the European and International Congress on Obesity.
