About
Dr. Troy Comeau is a Professor and Chair in the Department of Communication at Pittsburg State University, where he has served since 1998. He previously taught at Missouri Southern State University (1996–1998). As Director of Media Production (2003–present), his students have earned national awards in sports broadcasting, including the 2020 'Best Live Sports Broadcast' from College Broadcasters Inc. He holds a Ph.D. in Communication from the University of Missouri-Columbia (2007), an M.A. from Pittsburg State (1997), and a B.A. from Missouri Southern State College (1994).
His teaching focuses on Persuasion, Mass Media Effects, Sports Broadcasting, and Media and Society. He has led the Broadcast Education Association's Sports Division as its past president and received the 2021 Faculty Best of Competition award for his work in sports event production direction. In 2013, students nominated him for the Robert K. Ratzlaff Outstanding Faculty Award, recognizing his excellence in teaching and student service.
Outside academia, he enjoys softball, family time with wife Lorie and son Jesse, and supporting the Kansas City Chiefs.
