Jerry Cooley is an Instructor in the McComish Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at South Dakota State University (SDSU), where he has been since 2007. He holds a B.S. in Broadcast Journalism and an M.A. in English from SDSU. His teaching responsibilities include courses such as Introduction to Informatics (Python), Visual Basic Programming, and Technical Writing in Engineering. He also maintains the department website and supports academic competitions like the Program Design Competition and Jackrabbits BEST Robotics.
Prior to academia, Cooley owned a picture framing shop with his wife. His family has deep ties to SDSU: his wife graduated and worked at the university, his son is currently enrolled, and his daughter is an alumnus. He enjoys hobbies such as woodworking, amateur radio (with contacts in over 190 countries), and playing less traditional musical instruments like the bagpipes, tin whistle, and didgeridoo.
