Susan Ouren is a retired academic who served as Lead Faculty and Program Director for the Interior Design Department at Lone Star College–Kingwood. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Texas A&M University (TAMU) in 1974 and later obtained an M.Ed. from Sam Houston State University. During her tenure, she pioneered the development of a Facilities Management degree program and secured accreditation for the Interior Design program through the National Kitchen and Bath Association, emphasizing specialized kitchen and bath design curricula.
Her career focused on educational innovation and program enhancement, particularly in design education. Susan collaborated with her husband Bill, who held executive roles at Exxon Mobil, to support initiatives promoting quality teacher education and preservation efforts at TAMU’s Cushing Library. Though retired since 2012, her legacy in curriculum design and academic leadership remains notable.
