Sue Baxendale

Sue Baxendale is a Horn Tutor at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Junior Conservatoire and Natural Horn Co-Tutor alongside Anneke Scott. She holds positions at Douglas Academy Music School and St Mary’s Music School, while also contributing to the National Children’s Orchestra and National Youth Orchestras of Scotland. A Section Principal Horn with Scottish Opera since 1996, she freelances with major orchestras including BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Her educational background includes a joint degree in English and Music from the University of Birmingham, followed by a PGDip from the Royal Northern College of Music.

Baxendale’s work extends beyond performance and teaching into creative production and project management, focusing on community engagement. She co-directs Malvern Winds and McOpera, leading projects like Noye’s Fludde and Catriona and the Dragon for festivals such as Lammermuir Festival. Her advocacy emphasizes inclusivity and neurodiversity across artistic collaborations.
