Sandra-Lee Phipps

Sandra-Lee Phipps is a Teaching Professor of Photography at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Atlanta, serving since 2008. She holds an M.A. in studio arts from New York University and a B.A. in telecommunication arts from the University of Georgia. Her career spans academic roles, including adjunct professorships at institutions like Rockport College and New York University, alongside extensive professional photography and multimedia work.

Her research and creative interests focus on documentary photography, music culture, and visual storytelling, reflected in projects like the End of Life series and exhibitions such as Safe (2013) and Around the Sun (2007). She has been recognized with SCAD's Presidential Fellowship in 2011 and 2014.

Phipps' professional work includes contributions to The New York Times, Vanity Fair, and Getty Images, alongside independent film direction and artistic direction for bands like R.E.M. She actively participates in organizations like the College Art Association and Society for Photographic Education.
