Dr. Ray Barbosa Jr. is an Associate Professor of Education and serves as the M.Ed. Director at the Department of Education, West Texas A&M University. He previously held roles such as Director of Principalship (2018–2022), Head of the Department of Education (2017), Coordinator of Migrant Services at Region 16 Education Service Center, and Executive Director for Priests for Life Ministries of New York. His career spans over 30 years in education, including experiences as a K-12 teacher, assistant principal, principal, and regional coordinator for schools.
Dr. Barbosa holds a Technical Degree in Production Management, a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Business, and advanced degrees (Master’s and Doctorate) in Educational Leadership from multiple institutions, including Amarillo College, Frank Phillips College, Texas Women’s University, West Texas A&M University, and Texas Tech University. His research focuses on ethics, social justice, instructional technology, school culture, rural schools, at-risk schools, migrant students, educational outcomes, and leadership.
He has extensive experience in K-12 education, coaching basketball, football, golf, soccer, and volleyball since 1989. Dr. Barbosa is trilingual, speaking English, Spanish, and American Sign Language (ASL), and is committed to empowering global students to become employable and contributing citizens through education. His work emphasizes bridging cultural gaps and supporting diverse educational communities.
