Paul Bureau

Paul Bureau serves as a Lecturer and Academic Advisor in the Department of Allied Health Sciences at the University of Connecticut. He directs both the undergraduate Occupational and Environmental Health and Safety Concentration (OEHS) and the post-baccalaureate Online Occupational Safety and Health Certificate Program, while also providing industrial hygiene services to the UConn Health Center's Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine in Farmington, CT.

His academic credentials include:

• Master of Science in Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI)
• Undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Connecticut

With 40 years of professional experience, Bureau specializes in industrial hygiene, occupational safety, ergonomics, indoor air quality, and worker's compensation management. His expertise spans manufacturing, construction, shipbuilding, and repair industries across global operations including the USA, Canada, Mexico, Western Europe, Asia, Australia, and India. His research interests focus on practical applications of occupational health standards in diverse industrial settings and worker safety program development.

As Academic Advisor, he guides students in occupational safety programs while leveraging his industry experience from managerial roles at General Dynamics Electric Boat Corporation, United Technologies Corporation, and Maine Employers Mutual Insurance Company (MEMIC). His professional practice includes conducting international workplace risk assessments and safety training programs.

Bureau holds Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certification from the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH), earned in 1983, reflecting his expertise in comprehensive industrial hygiene practice.
