Nate Olson

Nate Olson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Appalachian Studies at East Tennessee State University's School of Humanities and Social Sciences, where he also serves as the Academic Director for the Bluegrass, Old-Time, and Roots Music program.

His research explores the cultural and musical traditions of Appalachia, with specific expertise in:

• Bluegrass music history and performance
• Old-Time music preservation
• Roots music ethnography
• Appalachian cultural heritage
